"This thesis will analyze the intervention between the built environment the skateboarding sub-culture in the urban setting of New York City. The culture of skateboarding has been looked down upon from the rest of society over time. The phenomenon of skateboarding is the allowance for human expression through movement. Creating a space for skateboarders to interact with the rest of society in a positive way can change this view of the skateboarding sub-culture. This project gives creates four positive aspects to the skateboarding community: allowing this style of movement to have an identity, giving a new interacting of urban space for people to understand the good of the sport, and overall being educated on the culture of skateboarding."
