"This thesis is a screenplay adaptation of a novella written by the student. The adaptation, Marry Me Instead, is a 9-Act, made-for-TV film that follows Felicia Jefferson, a fast food heiress who craves marriage and motherhood. Unfortunately for Felicia, as her 35th birthday approaches, her steady boyfriend Corey Dillard doesn't seem to be ready for a long-term commitment. Yet in an unexpected twist of fate, her male best friend Morris Bryson is the one to propose, motivated by a 19-year-old pact and the harsh reality that his lifelong battle with sickle cell anemia will end tragically. Marry Me Instead explores the power of friendship and the sacrifices made for love."
