"Despite having the largest utilized agricultural area in Europe, Romania recorded in 2012 a higher decrease in agricultural productivity than any other European Union country. Excessive land fragmentation, a lack of professional and managerial abilities and innapropriately exploited agricultural land are the main factors that led to a high decline of the Romanian rural community. This thesis explores the design of an agro-educational facility in the city of Medias, Romania. The design will feature a land-based training center that will provide small farmers in Romania the right support in order to grow, process, market and distribute organic products in a sustainable manner in accordance with the European Union regulations. The facility will provide hands-on training, outreach and technical assistance to farmers transitioning to organic agriculture as well as to the future generations of Romanian farmers."
