Abstract: |
"Designers should consider the relationship between the self, and the role of design with an openmind and flexibility. By adopting an introspective attitude regarding one’s work, process, and character, a designer can evolve by creating a set of best practices suited to their distinctive experience. Improving the relationship with the self carries intrinsic value, like improved well-being, in addition to producing lasting effects in the graphic design field, such as ensuring industry integrity over time. Graphic designers have to practice reflecting on the work and content they create. In doing so, the modern designer will be made aware of the patterns and trends in their creative routine. By examining their processes over longer periods of time, individuals can learn a great deal about themselves, improving the relationship with the self, as well as understanding their unique role in the graphic design field and on a much broader global scale." Keywords: self-awareness, introspection, reflection, self, individual, best practice |
