Abstract: |
The flooding of the tourism market with new tourists has led to widespread economic and real estate development within the hospitality industry and not all of it can be considered to have had a positive impact, in fact most new developments have a negative effect on the local population and environment. These are the underlying issues of a regional hospitality that seeks to create a sense of place and belonging with in a community using architecture to promote a discourse of universal benefit. This thesis project does not claim to solve problems but seeks to start a narrative about the possibilities of change through an architectural theory. Focused on issues of regionalism and sustainability in hospitality architecture, this project is an attempt to envision a contextually related resort based on the theories of critical regionalism. |
