Abstract: |
This thesis investigates urban school reform in the context of reinforcing of the connection between the surrounding community and the school as well as incorporating nature back into the urban built environment. The focus of this work is to design a school in Minneapolis, MN that is a wholebuilding learning environment, in that the building itself becomes a valuable learning tool as well as the surrounding area. By using nature-based, or biophilic, design ideals along with a whole-school curriculum model, urban schools can have a more hands-on approach to teaching and learning. |
