Life magazine issues had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. This issue was the Inauguration Number, for Theodore Roosevelt's second term in office as President. A. B. Walker was a cartoonist and engraver. This cartoon is about the Bull Market, a period of time in the stock market when prices rise quickly. In 1905, the stock market had gone into a trend towards a Bear market, which it did not come out of until following World War I. The bears are bringing the lambs, or investors to the sacrifice. Half page cartoon. |
