Power O’Malley was born Michael Augustine Power in Ireland in 1877. He studied at the Metropolitan School of Art in Dublin. His father died when he was young; he took the name O’Malley to honor his stepfather. Coming to the United States around 1900, he found work doing book illustrations and covers for Life and other periodicals of the time. After he married, he and his family traveled to Europe and the Caribbean. He is also known for his paintings. O’Malley died in New York in 1946.
Slightly smaller than one quarter page cartoon. One of the only cartoons that dealt with the obvious question of how Santa stayed clean in one of the dirtiest places in a house.
Volume 62, number 1626, page 1160.
