Subject: |
Periodicals -- Illustrations. Caricatures and cartoons. American wit and humor, Pictorial. |
Description: |
Most issues of Life had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. This issue was titled the "Dancing Number." Though the cartoons in Life were only signed Calvert, it might be assumed that this work was done by Calvert H. Smith, who also worked for Harper’s in 1913 and 1914. While the style is a bit different, the signatures match. Little else has been discovered about the artist. One quarter page cartoon. It seems that fashion has been dictating body consciousness to women for longer than we thought. |
