Abstract: |
"Human beings are inherently connected to the world through objects. Jewelry as one of the most intimate forms of object, has the capacity to carry meanings and serve as a language of signs. From the early Nassarius shell beads and eagle talons to the field of contemporary jewelry, objects act as catalyst for self-reflection. In an increasingly dichotomic and commercialized society, people separate themselves from the unity with objects. It is crucial to embrace and reconnect with the Magical and Mythical power of things to enable contemplations. When perceiving an object, one should set aside the egocentric mind set and allow it to become the catalyst of interpretations." *Keywords: jewelry, object, aesthetic, relationship, thinking, reflection, interpretation, mindfulness |
