Abstract: |
"This thesis operates as a series of proofs aimed at obliterating unwarranted, stubborn disparities between materials, disciplines and genders in the visual arts. The proofs took the form of comparative style exercises with yarn and paint, juxtaposed art tools and hand-knit work suits/play suits for women painters. Narration of how and why those objects were made is offered in this paper. In addition, historical and theoretical backgrounds regarding style, fiber-based movements, women painters, work wear and knitting have been included to support the works’ ultimate intent to glorify interdisciplinary, female artists at all stages of their creative lives." |
