Abstract: |
"A Voyage of Many documents Cuban-American immigrants. I combine photographic portraits with text from personal interviews to retell their stories of leaving Cuba and coming to a new country. In this photographic body of work I explore how the environmental portrait can provide clues to reveal much about an individual. Through the photographs and the accompanying text, I attempt to justify my reasoning. As a result of my own research, I have become increasingly aware that for the viewer there is a more complicated story to these photographs than meets the eye. Each of my subjects shares a different story and each environment provides a different set of clues. The interview text, while often clarifying certain elements in the photograph, can also leave many questions unanswered."
