Description: |
Life magazine covers were on a variety of topics. Each issue had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. This issue was titled the "Fashion Number". Henry Hutt was born in Chicago in 1875. He studied at the Chicago Art Institute. He sold his first picture to Life at the age of 16 and was working at Good Form Magazine by the age of 17. After that publication was discontinued, he began work at McClure’s and also found work illustrating books. Most of his work was in wash or pen and ink. His illustrations were influential in defining the fashion trends of the day and expressing a women’s point of view. The artist died in 1950. Full page color cover. |
