This thesis will devise a unique architectural solution for a light rail station becoming the catalyst for an inegrated sustainable approach to revitaling a community. The project will address the following issues inherent in architectural projects: sustainability, economic/community and environmental impact, energy efficiency and power generation, and establishes a theoretical model for buildings to be designed to generate, conserve, distribute, store, receive and utilize energy and facilitate function. To do this the architectural project will challenge the conventional role of the relationship between buildings and human beings by proposing a recuperative energy system that is based on harnessing the kinetic energy of pedestrian circulation on site and in the building, as well as, vehicular and light rail train car movement.
