Color postcard with no borders, postmarked May 15, 1911. Now part of SCAD and known as Poetter Hall, the Guards Armory was designed by William G. Preston and constructed in 1893. It is a Romanesque Revival building with three full stories and a hipped roof of masonry faces with red brick. The 36,248-square-foot building features deep arches, large corner towers, and intricate wrought iron balconies. It overlooks Madison Square and originally housed a ballroom, company rooms, and social areas for the guards. The building now houses the SCAD welcome center, the departments of admission and graphic design, shopSCAD and the May Poetter Gallery.

The Souvenir Post Card Co., operating between 1905-1914, was located at 268 Canal Street, New York, NY. The company used a number of different printers, each using a different process. This card appears to be a tinted half-tone. The company was purchased by Valentine and Sons.
