Built in 1754 and associated with Stevenson's Treasure Island, The Pirate's House had become nationally famous for its supurb food and intriguing atmosphere. The artist of this postcard was Theodore Waters. He was a well known Savannah artist and architectural designer. He was born in Screven County and started his career designing homes for First Federal Savings & Loan. He restored many of the older homes in the city and was involved in creating many of the residences in an expanding city. His design work was featured in Southern Living Magazine and other regional publications. He served as president of the Savannah Art Club at the Telfair Academy in 1951. Waters was known for his watercolors, and this image of The Pirates' House is one of his best known. He died at the age of 80 in 2000.
