Most issues of Life had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. While no official titled them for this issue, the cover illustration is of Santa checking the Bad Boys list. George L. Carlson was born in 1887. He worked in a number of New York factories before he obtained work as a cartoonist. He studied in the National School of Caricature, the National Academy of Design, and the Art Students league of New York City. He worked as an illustrator for magazines and books for most of his life. His most famous work was creating the dust jacket for Gone with the Wind. Carlson died in 1962 Full page color cover. |
