Black and white stereograph image of a sailor looking out at the Savannah Riverfront, with double image affixed to gray board. The back of the card contains a long caption about the riverfront, river industries, and the city itself. The caption states that the view is looking east towards the ocean overlooking the port, warehouses, and ships at anchor. While it is difficult to tell exactly what the vantage point is for this view, it appears that the view could be from close to where the Talmadge Bridge is now located, looking east at the bend in the Savannah River.

The publisher of this stereograph card was the Keystone View Company, a major distributor of stereographic images, located in Meadville, Pennsylvania. The company began 1892, producing and distributing educational, comic, and sentimental stereograph views and stereoscopes. By 1905 it was the world's largest stereographic company. They also worked with stereoscophalmic equipment for eye training and therapy. In 1963 the department producing stereographic views was closed. Keystone continued to manufacture stereoscopthalmic products as a subsidiary of Mast Development Company.

The stereograph uses two images of a scene taken at slightly different angles to recreate the view seen by the human eyes by adding distance between the images. The stereoscope combines these to provide a three dimensional view. The layered GIF image seen here vibrates a bit, but also combines the two images to provide a three dimensional view without the stereoscope.
