Description: |
The image is from a scan of a slide from Myrtle Jones Collection, MS 002. The slide was used in the publication of her book, A Savannah Experience: an artistic expression of my life in Savannah, published in 1995. The slide depicts an acrylic painting of Congregation Mickve Israel. Congregation Mickve Israel, completed in 1878, is the only Gothic style Synagogue in America and is located on Monterey Square. Artist's statement: I had painted this historic synagogue, Temple Mickve Israel on Monterey Square, many times before, but not with the sunlight streaming across it so beautifully. I especially like the way the tall palm trees reach fro the sky in this painting. |
