Description: |
Color image with white border, divided back, postally unused. From back of card: "Jewish Educational Alliance, Savannah Ga. A Community Club House and Social Center. Organized 1913. New building erected at a cost of over $50,000 in 1915. Building dedicated Jan. 27, 1916. Contains large assembly hall and gymnasium, reception hall, lobby and library, lodge rooms and banquet hall, domestic science department, kindergarten, class rooms, showers, locker rooms, and swimming pool." The building was later owned by both the Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Salvation Army, and functioned as a church, a lodge, and a shelter for homeless women and children. It was leased then purchased by SCAD in 1995. Now an apartment-style residence hall for female students, Pulaski House accommodates up to four students in each unit, with private baths and kitchenettes. This postcard was produced by the Curt Teich & Company. They utilized a variety of processes, but the most common was a halftone lithographic process. They had elaborate numbering systems for their postcards. The numbers also often designated production processes. After 1930, card numbers began with a number corresponding to the last digit of the year it was published in. This was followed by a letter series for the decade. There is no beginning number for this card and the letter code is A, used for the 1930's. That indicates this card was produced in 1930. |
