The Temple of Hercules in the Boarian Forum, now the Church of St. Stephen on the Tiber. The Temple of Hercules Victor in the Forum Boarium isone of the better preserved structure from Rome's republican era. The temple dates from 2nd century BC and was created by a Greek architect, Hermodorus of Salamis. The temple was converted to a church, Santo Stefano alle Carozze, in 1132. It would have been this church during the time that Lauro was writing. In the 17th century, it was rededicated as Santa Maria del Sole. The verso of this leaf contains text in three languages with page titles in Italian: Tempio di Hercole nel foro Boario. |
