Abstract: |
"This thesis will analyze the successes and failures of the 1995 film Waterworld and will propose a new production design that conceptualizes a fresh and modern look based on the original screenplay. The Waterworld vernacular architecture must tell a story of preparation for the entire world to be flooded and requires innovative design solutions. The use of current technology and building materials is critical for lighter, more realistic structures as well as solutions for floating scenery. Focusing on one area of the set, The Atoll, allows for a more detailed analysis and design package including communication through 3-D modeling and rendering, drafting packages, set dressing, props, and visualization of potential shots for the filming process." --Abstract
