This thesis seeks to provide a historical and narrative, non-fiction account of Camp Shady Brook, a camp once called home by the Bandhauer family and later bought by the YMCA. The thesis works as a hybrid form that combines both historical non-fiction (Parts I-III) and memoir (Part IV). Last, the thesis investigates opportunities for publication via both traditional and non-tradition routes.
