Abstract: |
The proposal in this work will focus on waterbodies in an urban center of a Metropolitan area of Chennai going through a large crisis of flood management, in which the historical neglect of natural resources over the years has been causing an extensive blow over the cities infrastructure. Multiple studies on the banks of the river, understanding the origin of the urban slum encroachments causing to scale down the water storage capacity of the rivers over years. The urban slum is Chennai is been evolving over decades, settlements not only taking over the space for water but also polluting it. This thesis aims to contribute with design proposals of a meaningful impact in the life of Chennai citizens.
