Within the Realm of Romance: Casual Encounters is an exploration of people who use the internet to search for casual sex. The work uses not only photographs but also excerpts of interviews with willing participants who have disclosed their use of using the internet for sex. This paper draws parallels between the combination of personal ads and casual sex prior to the inception of the internet and the more contemporary issue of using the internet to search for casual sex. The aim of this work is to dispel negative stereotypes that have carried over into this more contemporary issue by avoiding a singular, dismissive label and painting a more complete portrait of each of the participants.
