: Most issues of Life had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. While no official titled them for this issue, the cover illustration is titled "El Dorado."

Alanson Burton Walker was born 1878 in Milford, Connecticut. He studied with Kenyon Cox and others. He worked as cartoonist, Illustrator, and engraver for magazines and also illustrated books. Walker died in 1947 in New York.

Quarter page cartoon. While the majority of us think that feminism is a fairly modern movement, it has roots that go way back. In the twentieth century, feminism was part of the Socialist movement in America as well as Europe. Also, the Suffrage Movement promoted the equality of women, not just the right to vote.
