Banjo the Woodpile Cat, the story about a kitten who wanders away from home, was based in part on the Bluth's farm in Utah. The family actually had a cat living in a woodpile near the house. One day, they noticed that the cat was gone, but after several weeks, it came home and stayed. Bluth and his brothers, intrigued about what might have happened to him during his time away, made up a story about his adventures in the big city. The story had a positive family message about running away to "find the good times", only to find that the "best times" are at home with the love of your family.

Cel set-up with a color photocopy of painted background and a cel overlay of Banjo singing and dancing at the Cat Sisters’ Club, one of the stops during his adventure in the city.
