"Human longing drives us to find meaning within ourselves and within our surroundings. We search relentlessly for our safe place, our sanctuary, a space or object or memory that allows us to find peace and evokes our deepest desire to return to the safety and security of the mother’s womb. Though while acting as a shelter and safe haven, these physical or imagined confines are also stifling cages, both for the mother and the child, suspending youth and innocence while prohibiting new growth. The main themes that I want to present through my sculptural narratives are a feeling of sentiment, animal reference, and the security and confines of the figurative womb. My visual guides are the halo, the womb and the nest, and the sculptural pieces I present will create an immersive fantastic environment that conjures deep sentiment."
