A Plastic Farm Reflection brings to the viewer a criticism of contemporary interaction with nature. These works represent a search to create the ideal natural form through completely plastic means and the artifice that narrates this situation. Artificiality is contained in the identity of my art, weighing a distance from nature created through mediation. I have come to understand this arrival through the study of traditional techniques in painting and how these strategies have come to exist in the twenty-first century. They are techniques rooted in the observation of nature, yet are contemporaneously realized through digital means. This synthetic conception of nature and therefore dichotomy in my work illuminates the isolation we have created from the natural world. I have come to understand this seclusion through the idealization of nature in art throughout history and the abundant mediated interactions we now have with the world around us.
