Life magazine covers were on a variety of topics. Each issue had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. This is the "School Number."

Alanson Burton Walker was born 1878 in Milford, Connecticut. He studied with Kenyon Cox and others. He worked as cartoonist, Illustrator, and engraver for magazines and also illustrated books. Walker died in 1947in New York.

Quarter page cartoon. In 1908, it was discovered that in spite of the flood of moral outrage at Eugene Walter's The Easiest Way, the show was a financial success. After that, it was believed that a little scandal sold tickets.
