Most Life issues had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. The theme of this issue was "Old Folks". Herbert Merrell Wilder was born in New Hampshire and educated at the Cowles Art School in Boston. He drew cartoons for Harper's Weekly, Harper's Bazaar, Puck, Life, and other magazines and newspapers. He also illustrated numerous books. He died in 1915. Half page cartoon. |
