Abstract: |
"The loss of my parents, particularly my father after a move to the pacific northwest, has brought about the inspiration for my thesis body of work. I create artworks that allow me to process my trauma through undulating shapes, line, and the beauty that I see when surrounded by nature, particularly bodies of water. I receive messages of beauty and anger, sometimes simultaneously, as the composition evolves. The work allows me to combat grief and create imagery that can either hold onto the anger that was present or completely convey the beauty anticipated while navigating through the natural space. 'There's no wrong way to do art…often art and imagery will help us find words for thoughts, situations or feelings that we initially may not have had words for.'-Beth Ann Short, MA ATR-BC, Art Therapist" --Abstract
