Abstract: |
In recent years, "creative coding" has become essential to a contemporary art which engages the principles of human/computer interaction and the digital medium as a whole. And although the creative coding movement is built on a foundation of openness, sharing, and education, the discipline itself is inherently technical and can seem esoteric and inaccessible to newcomers. Currently, it is difficult to find a single source which covers a wide variety of interactive devices in a way that is accessible to beginners. The purpose of this paper is to provide a useful reference for the practical application of a variety of accessible interactive devices and their associated programming techniques, in an attempt to empower the reader to create audiovisual art which is interactive and nonlinear. |
