Collection of theses from 2010 and later
This database houses the graduate thesis work completed at all SCAD locations from fall 2010 forward. It is keyword searchable and includes both written and visual components, giving the user a broader understanding of both product (digitized studio work) and its underlying concept (the written thesis). The goal of the database is to provide both aspiring MFA candidates timely models of what a graduate thesis should address, and the larger public a sense of the richness of graduate work done at SCAD. Questions regarding this database should be directed to the Visual Resources Center library@scad.edu.

Documentation of place, in its existence, involves a number of views. The subject, and photographer mutually come into play in the creation of the documentary photograph. Lastly, the viewer also plays a part in the absorption of the images that exist in our collective society.

"This thesis is a memoir about my experiences as a young dementia caregiver, told in vignettes. It explores how caregiving affected the relationship between me any my dad, a disabled Vietnam Veteran with PTSD who developed neuropathy in his legs and dementia when he was only in his early 60s. This story covers the period of 2008-2014, starting from when I was only 19, until I was 25, when my dad passed away and how I handled the aftermath. It delves into struggles I experienced as young caregiver, the effects the dementia had on my dad, and experiences with mental illness, PTSD, physical illness, and ultimately the grief, guilt, and love that came with all of it."

The development of mainstream and classical menswear design has an established place in fashion history. However, since many young designers are turning toward contemporary apparel markets, the study of modern Western avant-garde menswear design becomes more and more inadequate. Undoubtedly, avant-garde menswear is emerging in the form of unique menswear markets and even becoming the mainstream trend in recent years. Therefore, this thesis focuses on research since the 1960s regarding anti-traditional styles of Western menswear to address the development of menswear design through analyzing historical context, aesthetic changes, cultural differences and psychological factors. The thesis presents examples of various designers` work to examine and prove the significant change in menswear design.

This thesis focuses on the Western genre in film. The primary focus of this paper is to define what a Western is based on the syntactic and semantic elements generally associated with the genre. The aim of the thesis is to study these Westerns, and then compare and contrast them with other films that may not generally be labeled as Westerns, either because of the location of the film, or because of other thematic elements. In doing this, I plan on showing that a true Western film is more then just the location, time period, or the wardrobe worn by the characters, but has more to do with the thematic elements that work in conjunction with the more symbolic references associated with the Western. After defining the Western, I plan on showing how I used these synaptic and semantic elements in order to build, and execute, my film Dawn.
