Most issues of Life had a theme that was introduced by the cover and reflected throughout the issue. While no official titled them for this issue, the cover illustration is titled "El Dorado."
Raymond Perry was born in Sterling Illinois. He studied art at the Art Institute of Chicago and was a member of the American Water Color Club and the Salmagundi Club. He worked as a painter, illustrator, and designer, and also as a colorist for Superman comics when it was published by National Publications. He died in 1960.
