| Abstract: |
This thesis examines the failure of the current labeling systems to effectively inform consumers of the pro-environmental qualities and post-consumer utilization options of products. The research discusses the shortcomings of measures historically and currently taken by the government, business and social activists to resolve labeling issues. To alleviate the problem the thesis proposes a wiki-style information tool that will provide consumers with a clear graphic summary of eco-qualities of products on-the-go. Such tool will clarify the meaning of pro-environmental labels and guide consumer decisions in stores as well as at the utilization stage. The system‟s front end will be realized through a Smartphone app. |
